Looking to take a safe but fun trip somewhere close by? I highly recommend heading to the City of Brotherly Love for an amazing petcation both you and your furbaby will love. I recently had the pleasure of staying at Canopy by Hilton in Philadelphia, and it was easily one of the best pet friendly hotels I’ve ever visited.
I stayed in one of their one bedroom penthouse suites and felt fancy AF. Located on the 13th floor (or the PH floor), this spacious “just-right” room had an amazing view of City Hall with local touches and a contemporary design influenced by the rich culture of Midtown Village.
The suite had two TVs, one in the living area and one in the bedroom, and due to COVID, the remotes were wrapped in plastic. There were also two bathrooms, one near the entrance, and one fully equipped with toiletries and a luxe shower.
The canopy bed, made of gel memory foam and Serta cool balance, was as comfortable as can be, and although they provided Daisy with her own bed, she preferred to lounge with me. Because why wouldn’t she want to pal around in 300 thread count sheets!
As you all know, my pup’s diabetic so her insulin needs to be refrigerated at all times. Luckily, there was a mini refrigerator inside the room! It’s just a drawer though so FYI, you won’t be able to store food in there or anything. Other notable amenities included free high speed wifi, comfy bathrobes, and a Nespresso machine.
In regards to parking, I don’t know if they used to offer valet, but due to COVID, everyone has to self park in a lot that’s about a 2-3 minute walk away. It’s super convenient and close, but it costs about $35 a day to park. If it wasn’t a pandemic, I’d recommend ubering, but safety always comes first so it’s money well spent in my book.
As for food, Philly has an incredible culinary scene so I’ll be sharing my dining guide soon, but Canopy Philadelphia has a great in-house restaurant called The Wayward. It’s open Sunday-Thursday from 5-9PM, and Friday-Saturday from 5-10PM.
Must try dishes include their corn beignets, their East vs. West Oyster, their Pommes Frites, their Mushroom Galette, and their Steak Frites.
They also have a wonderful drink menu so make sure you enjoy a cocktail or two while you’re dining! I got their Classic OG French 75, and it was exquisite, especially with the oysters I got. PS. they came with a chartreuse mignonette, and it was delicious!
For those of you interested, they currently offer indoor AND outdoor dining so definitely make sure to take advantage if you feel comfortable! Just remember to tip 30% and to wear a mask whenever your waiter/waitress comes by.
Now, if you’re craving something sweet, you definitely need to hit up the Federal Donuts next door (open from 7AM-3PM). It’s connected to the hotel so it’s easy to get to, and they serve breakfast in addition to some of the best donuts I’ve ever tasted.
Brought to you by two James Beard Award winners + their partners, I can pretty much guarantee you’ll leave completely and utterly satisfied.
If you want something savory, I recommend getting their za’atar fries (so tasty) and/or their breakfast sandwich. Made with egg, bacon, cooper sharp cheese and cherry pepper relish, this sammie’s a great way to start the day!
The star of the show though? Their fancy donuts. I got a half dozen for $15 and got to try each of their special flavors. My personal favorites were their pumpkin roll, their nutella salted caramel, their strawberry lavender, and their cookies n cream.
Anywho, that’s a wrap for today! I hope you enjoyed reading all about my latest petcation at Canopy Philadelphia. Let me know if you have any questions by leaving a comment below or shooting me a quick message at info@sensiblestylista.com.
