Alright guys, as the “sensible stylista,” I’ve decided to do more remixes moving forward because who doesn’t want to get max wear out of their clothing. I haven’t had time to shoot much because I’ve been on the road, but I gotta start somewhere. I want to give you guys as much value as possible, and I think the art of re-styling is a very useful skill which brings me to my latest. I’m excited to feature my new checkered Zara skirt two different ways today on the blog.
Both ensembles are polished, but look two is slightly more casual than the first. I decided to stick with a fairly simple color scheme below: pink and gray. I’m big into neutrals so I liked how this ensemble came together. My blouse is from Korea, and it was super affordable. I got it at a street market for $7 so it felt like a holiday! I tucked the top into my skirt to cinch my waist and carried my Gucci shoulder bag to match. The top’s loud due to the print, and it has cute ruffle detailing all over so I didn’t accessorize further. To finish the look off, I wore pointed gray heels from Qupid!
Look 2 would’ve been way more casual without the ankle strap shoes and YSL crossbody bag, but that’s ok. I like glam living! Before we move on, I want to talk to you guys about something. You may wonder why I feature designer bags in my outfits when I say I’m like the Rachael Ray of fashion. It’s because I believe in shopping smart.
For me, the name brand pieces I buy are investments, and they elevate my OOTDs tenfold. I calculate cost per wear with each item I splurge on, and that’s how I justify these purchases. Maybe your idea of a splurge is Coach, or maybe it’s something even more expensive, like Hermes. Either way, the principle’s the same. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out, and I’d be happy to discuss it further with you.
For this outfit, I paired my checkered skirt with my favorite OTS top. It’s Zara as well, as are my shoes. It’s no secret that I heart their clothing so it shouldn’t catch you by surprise. Check their “Special Prices” tab often – they list a lot of items for a fraction of the price, and they offer free shipping and returns so there’s zero risk. ASOS has the same policy, but their quality has gone downhill so I haven’t even been looking at their site. Where do you guys like to shop online?
Anywho, I got off topic, but this checkered skirt is a versatile piece that you can wear a bajillion different ways. If I had more time with my photographer, we seriously could’ve called this “The Checkered Zara Skirt Worn 20 Ways.” I’m currently searching for a matching blazer so I can style it with a graphic tee and white sneakers. I’ll make sure to update this post when I do! Until next time, friends!
Photography by the wonderful Sung Shin. I’ve done remixes in the past – which is why I have a separate remix tab – but I’m planning to level everything up so keep an eye out. And as I’m sure you all noticed, I’ve been posting about different topics. Let me know what’s most helpful so I know what to focus on. Although this is my passion, I want to make sure I’m as helpful as possible so don’t be shy. Sending so much love from the DMV!
