Alright guys, today’s blast is all about how-to get more followers on instagram. Nowadays, everyone wants a huge audience, but only a handful are willing to put in the time & effort necessary to grow their accounts. We hate to break it to you, but you’re not going to reach 50k+ overnight…unless you do a loop giveaway, but that’s a topic for another day.
Like all things, growth takes time, so if you’re looking for a quick way to inflate your stats, don’t even bother reading this post because there is no magical formula that’ll make you instafamous overnight. However, if you’re serious about attracting quality followers who will legitimately support you, keep reading because I’m going to talk about 6 ways you can up your numbers organically!
6 ways you can increase your social media presence immediately. Click to FINALLY grow on instagram! Click To Tweet1. Have a kickass account.
Put thought into each and every caption + photo. Your account’s a digital representation of your brand so you want to make sure that all your posts are quality. Write an amazing bio and think about your overall vibe. How can you make your IG stand out – what’s your aesthetic (ie. using different photo borders, sticking with B&W photos, etc.)? What do you want to accomplish on your IG? Why should someone follow you – are you inspiring them, giving them comic relief, or ______? Remember, you need to provide value in some way, shape or form so figure out your purpose before posting regularly.
2. Get your hashtag on.
You can use up to 30 per photo so make sure y’all take full advantage. Post 2-3 in your caption then write in the rest in a comment below to avoid looking spammy. If you’re not sure which hashtags to use, download the Tags for Likes app. They’ll give you a ton of different sets depending on what you’re looking for! Also, study big influencers in your niche. What hashtags are they using? Are any relevant to your content? If yes, feel free to get your experiment on.
NOTE: if you’re using super popular hashtags, your content will probably get lost in the black hole that is instagram because you’ll be competing with HUGE instagrammers who have a ridiculous number of fans. Your goal is to get on the “top posts” section so go for tags that are relevant but less used. See how many posts it has total and then make a judgement call. If there are hundreds of thousands total, you’ll probably have a tough time, but if it’s a few thousand, you have a good shot at being featured! Also, do NOT use the same hashtags for each photo because you will, in essence, be competing with yourself.
3. Post photos at good times for max exposure.
Use common sense and share posts when your followers are most active. You may have a kickass video or photo to share, but your engagement’s going to suck if you blast it at some random time. It varies from person to person so you have to experiment and see what works best for you and your fans! Use IG insights to monitor your stats and tweak your strategy accordingly. People typically tend to browse instagram when commuting to and from work and late at night when they’re lying in bed so early-morning, afternoons, and late night shares tend to do well in general.
4. Be consistent with your content.
It’s all about trust. You need to build rapport with your audience, and one way to do so is to be consistent. You don’t have to share daily to develop a solid relationship with them. In fact, it doesn’t really matter how often you share as long as your followers know when to expect posts. If you post 3x one day and then go dark for 2 weeks, they’ll most likely lose interest. Pick a day/time for updates, let your audience know, and have the discipline to stick with it!
5. Collaborate with influencers in your niche.
We can’t even begin to tell you guys how crucial it is to collaborate with artists in your niche. Reach out and see if they’re interested in partnering with you for videos, performances, or even shout outs. Chances are, you’ll make a new friend/s and gain valuable exposure while you’re at it. Famous youtubers like Kina Grannis, Conor Maynard, and Jason Chen do it ALL the time! Seriously, don’t be afraid to reach out! What’s the worst that could happen? If they say no, move on and simply ask someone else! You’ll most definitely find somebody who’s more than thrilled to work with you.
6. Cross-promote your account.
You may have the coolest account ever, but no one’s going to know about it if you don’t promote it. Make sure you let your followers know you’re active on IG by mentioning it on your other social media platforms! Note: do NOT auto-post your IG content. Instead, tell your fans to check out your instagram account and link them! If you automatically share your content on Facebook, Twitter or [insert social media platform of your choice], they’ll have no reason to follow you on IG. Instead, post teasers so they WANT to click through!
On a related note, make sure you mix up your content from platform to platform. If you’re constantly sharing the same stuff everywhere, people will eventually unfollow. Why follow you on facebook, twitter, AND instagram if you’re sharing the same photos and/or videos on each platform? No one wants a spammy feed! Figure out what each platform is for and make sure it serves its own unique purpose.
