I’m so sorry my posting schedule’s still sporadic. Things have been insanely busy, but I’m going to try my best to keep things more consistent moving forward. It’s been a minute since I last blogged about food so today we’re going to talk about a must try breakfast place in DC.
If you follow me on insta, you already know that I love, and I mean LOVE, ChiKo. I may be their social media manager, but trust me when I say I’m not biased in the slightest. Their food really is THAT good, and I’m more than confident you’d agree with me after experiencing their deliciousness firsthand.
I’ve featured them on here in the past – click to read about must try dishes at ChiKo – but today, we’re going to talk about their new breakfast concept, I Egg You. For those of you looking to get your brunch on, be ready to scarf down some of the best egg sandwiches around. Seriously. Best. Sandwiches. Ever.
Periodt.
Based out of ChiKo Cap Hill, I Egg You’s open on weekends from 8AM-1PM for contactless pickup and delivery. They offer a special sammie each week in addition to their regular menu offerings. So, without further ado, here are my personal recommendations for you guys!
The Original Egg
Don’t underestimate the power of the OG. Priced at $5, this breakfast sandwich is nothing short of magical – it’s simple yet perfect, with griddled O Bakery milk bread, a brown butter egg and fontina cheese. Think buttery goodness you’ll crave from week to week. Pics just don’t do it justice.
Pork, It’s What’s for Breakfast
Everything you read above + confit Logan’s sausage. Add ChiKo hot sauce and candied jalapeños for the ultimate handheld, and report back with thoughts ASAP. There’s a small upcharge for the sauce + peppers, but oh my god, it’s worth the $1.50.
I Like My Breakfast Sweet
Prefer sweet over savory? Then this is the sandwich for you. We all know nutella and banana’s a foolproof combo, but the griddled milk bread takes it to the next level. Bonus points for adding walnuts to the mix.
OMG Loaded Potatoes
Although their sammies are filling, you HAVE to get a “side” of potatoes as well; side’s in parentheses because their portions are ginormous. Choose from basic, somewhat loaded and OMG loaded! I recommend the latter because I want all the toppings and then some, but you can’t go wrong with any of the aforementioned options.
The OMG’s topped with Old Bay Aioli, parsley, cheese sauce, sausage (or bacon if you prefer), candied jalapeños, and a brown butter fried egg. Easily some of the best breakfast potatoes you’ll ever have… but don’t just take my word for it, go and get in on the action ASAP.
So, who’s excited to try I Egg You this weekend? Mark your calendars and set your alarms because you need to try their nomtastic eats stat. The OG looks totally divine and for $5, take my money! The potatoes look delicious too. Thanks for sharing this neat little place!
