Self love is the key to life— love yourself first and then everything will fall into place. It’s time to start loving, truly loving ourselves. Beyond the superficial sense like eating more veggies, watching less TV or working out more. To love life so much that waking up each day fills your heart with an undeniable sense of gratitude.
Give yourself permission to love yourself unconditionally whether it’s a good day, bad day, or a hide-away kind of day. Love yourself in the way you’ve always wanted someone else to love you.
The Power of Choice
Each and every day, we make thousands of choices. We can’t control the negative shit that comes our way, but we can control how we react to it. Sometimes our pain is the direct result of others’ choices, choices that can really hurt us. However, the choice to cling onto that pain, allowing it to suffocate us is wholly ours.
Far too often, we’re hurt by things that happened years ago, remembering it as if it happened just yesterday. Holding onto the resentment and pain, constantly blaming others for our choices takes far too much energy. Choose better. Choose to move on. Choose to go high.
Cut the BS
After making the choice to forgive those who’ve hurt you, it’s time to get rid of things that affect your confidence. Unfollow accounts on Instagram that make you feel bad about yourself. What you see isn’t real life. Remember, social media’s a highlight reel so you’re only seeing what people what you to see. Everyone goes through shit, and the grass almost always seems greener on the other side.
Quit wasting time watching butt implant videos and rando procedures online if it all gets under your skin. Don’t let society make you believe that you’re not worthy of self-love because your body doesn’t fit society’s ideals. Beauty comes in all shapes, sizes and colors so embrace what makes you unique.
Cut off friendships that suck the joy out of you. Re-evaluate and use your freedom to walk away. Time is precious so don’t waste it. Spend it with those who lift you up and inspire you to become the best version of yourself.
Stop eating and drinking things that make you feel terrible about yourself. Nourish your body and mind with clean and wholesome things AND thoughts. Be mindful because you’re worth it.
Give Yourself Space to Grow
When you let go of past deadweight, you’re allowing yourself to grow and develop into who you were always supposed to be. Make personal development your drug of choice – become obsessed with bettering yourself and learning all the ways how you can maximize your badassity.
Start small – if you think you’re drinking too much wine on the regular, cut a glass out to start, then another a week later. Celebrate small victories, and be mindful of things that make you feel good.
Spend More Time Doing What You Love
Aside from working to pay the bills – we all gotta make that paper – stop doing things that are bad for your mental health. If you like photography, get out there and explore nature to capture moments on your camera.
Remember, being creative’s good for your body, mind and soul so it’s a win-win all around. For example, singing helps to regulate breathing and can release a whole load of feel-good hormones so blast your favorite song and go nuts.
Loving yourself takes time and patience so don’t rush the process. The most important thing to remember is that how you are, as you are is more than enough. Until next time, loves. Sending you all the positive vibes from the DMV!
