Pumped to share another segment of quarantine adventures with you guys! It’s been a minute since I last updated this series, but I promise to try and keep things short and sweet. Expect a ton of food today because I’ve been shooting for a bunch of restaurants in the area.
Hitting up Le Diplomate
Le Dip’s always a blast – chef Greg’s awesome, and the food’s delicious and beautiful. I got to shoot their inauguration and Valentine’s day specials, and I may or may not have indulged a while working. My man friend tagged along with me for this shoot – he generously agreed to be my hand model so those are his handsome digits below.
PS. the lobster risotto and filet mignon were insanely good. I realllly hope chef decides to offer at least the former as a special again soon. It was easily one of the best risotto dishes I’ve ever had – I mean, how gorgeous does that look though?
Gypsy Kitchen’s Curated Dining Experiences to Go
For those of you looking to ball out on a budget, I highly recommend Gypsy Kitchen. They’re currently offering a beautiful braised pork shank for two that’s priced at $65. It comes with your choice of the following:
- Hummus or Labneh with Flatbread
- Kale or Winter Citrus Salad
- Braised Pork Shank with Slow Cooked Greens and Creamy Goat Cheese Tarhana
- Chocolate Pavlova
- A Bottle of Portocolo, Tempranillo or Tavernello, Pinot Grigio
That’s a delectable 4-course meal complete with wine. Yep, a killer deal for sure so definitely make sure to give ’em a try. The food was solid, and I’m high key craving their flatbread as I write this. Not a big fan of pork? Get their Lacquered Chicken instead (priced at $59). You’re welcome in advance.
Grazie Grazie x Cracked Eggery
If you follow me on @nomtasticfoods, you already know that I’m a big fan of both Grazie Grazie and Crackd Eggery, but their recent collab for Chance for Life was next level. I got two breakfast sammies + an insanely tasty pizza I couldn’t get enough of.
I really hope they partner up again because you guys need to experience this deliciousness firsthand. Pictured above, their Roman Holiday ‘za made with mozzarella, cooper sharp cheese, cracked bacon, hot Italian sausage, arugula, pecorino romano, a fried egg and cracked sauce. Quite possibly one of THE most interesting pies I’ve ever had the pleasure of devouring. The flavors were out of this world, and Casey did a killer job with the crust – airy, buttery magic.
Sandi Buns: Service Bar’s New Sandwich Concept
When Sandi Buns reached out via instagram, I was STOKED because who doesn’t enjoy dope burgers and chicken sandwiches? Founded by the minds behind Service Bar, they offer impossible meat, salads and sides in addition to the aforementioned staples. I got to try the following this time ’round:
- Sandi’s Spice Bomb ($11): Nashville hot burger with spice bomb, pimento peppers, cooper cheese, apple butter, caramelized onions, pickles, and special sauce on a potato bun.
- Charred and Feathered ($11): chicken thigh marinated in red wine vinegar, olive oil, cumin, oregano, topped with Peruvian black mint, chimichurri, huancaina sauce, salsa criolla and avocado on a sesame seed bun.
- Sandi’s Sauce-fries ($7): fries with special sauce, bacon, green onions, cheese sauce, cooper cheese and onions.
Everything was good, but the spice bomb burger was phenomenal. For $11, you’re getting serious bang for your buck, and the flavors all worked so well together. I’d definitely go back for another! Their Jerk From Home and OB Smash sound amazing as well, and they’re also doing an “ask the audience” type deal for burger specials each week so leave them a comment to see yours potentially come to life.
Gravitas for Restaurant Week
Thank the food gods for restaurant week! Thrilled to tell you guys that Gravitas is doing a bomb 3-course meal priced at $55 per person. Choose from dishes like slow roasted chicken breast and seared branzino or enjoy their RW offerings via takeout with Gravitas to-go. This option’s slightly more affordable at $50 a person, and the menu’s almost the same!
I highly recommend taking advantage because it’s a crazy deal, especially since it’s Michelin star food. I’m actually heading to Gravitas later today to take pics of new menu items so make sure to follow via stories to stay in the know and get a sneak peek.
A Short Getaway to Wylder Tilghman Island
I’m not sure if you guys caught my most recent travel recap, but in case you missed it, I took a night off and escaped to Chesapeake Bay for some R&R. My suite at Wylder was right by the water, and I really enjoyed being so close to the ocean. I’ve been dealing with some cabin fever as of late so it was nice to get away, even if it was just for an evening. Click here to read more about my trip and see how I spent my time there!
Alright friends, I hope you enjoyed my latest! Let me know what you’ve been up to by leaving a comment below, and stay tuned for fresh, new content coming your way. I’ll be updating Sensible Stylista once a week for now, but I’m planning on upping that soon! I’ll make sure to announce as soon as I solidify my editorial calendar. Until next time – sending big e-hugs your way!
