Hey friends! I hope you’re ready for another nom food post. I’m really excited to tell you about my latest experience at Sfoglina. I’ve heard incredible things about their food so I was pumped to check out their new location in Rosslyn with my dear friend David Ortiz (aka @dcfoodfreak).
Located on 1100 Wilson Boulevard in Arlington, VA, Sfoglina’s known for their handmade pasta so definitely get noodles (or some form of noodz) when you go. It wouldn’t be a Sensible Stylista post without talking about a deal of some sort so here goes: go with a friend or two and take advantage of their “3 pastas to share family style for $58” bundle.
Choose from delectable dishes under their “all 19” or “all 24” categories. It’s honestly tough to pick 3 because everything sounds so good, but I highly recommend their potato gnocchi and their Roman chickpea bucatini cacio e pepe. The former comes in a porcini crema with mushrooms and parm reggiano and is a mushroom lover’s dream come true, while the latter’s served with sheep’s milk pecorino, black pepper and lemon zest.
Another great option is their squid ink linguine. If you follow me on instagram, you probably already know all about @dcfoodfreak. He’s a fine dining guru, and he highly recommends this dish so make sure it’s on your radar.
It’s served in a beautiful marinara sauce with roasted tomatoes and chilies, and it comes with a generous portion of lobster. Although I enjoyed the flavors, I’m not a big fan of squid ink so this wasn’t my jam. I could definitely see other people loving it though!
Now, I’m not sure how much longer this dish is going to be available, but if you’re down to splurge a bit, you need to try their Einkorn pappardelle with winter black truffle. Holy freaking crap, this is one of the best noodle dishes I’ve ever had. I literally took one bite and went “mmmMMMmmmmmM” for a good minute.
Pappardelle’s my favorite noodle, and the sauce was just so creamy and rich and buttery and amazing. And the truffle? To. Die. For. I can totally see myself reflecting on 2020 and listing this as one of the best dishes I had all year. Yeah, that’s how good it was.
We were honestly stuffed at that point, but David’s pretty much VIP wherever he goes so they comped us some Italian gelato. They have two flavors available for those of you interested (vanilla and citrus sorbetto), and it’s a lovely way to end your meal.
Next time, I’m gonna save room and get their chocolate cake or warm hazelnut pound cake. Le sigh. Why does everything tasty have to be so high in calories? And it’s so much easier to put on weight than lose it, lol. Oy. In case you were wondering, my diet’s been going realllllll well.
Anywho, that’s it for today. I hope you guys had fun reading about Sfoglina! Let me know what you think of their food if you go, and check out my food tab or Nomtastic Foods for more droolworthy content. Hope to see you back soon!
Mouth watering pasta. I’m a big pasta fan, love different pasta varieties.
