Hey friends! Who’s excited for another food photo dump? I recently had the pleasure of dining at Slate Wine Bar – thanks to Eleven Eleven PR – and I’m really excited to share my experience with you all. This neighborhood gem offers a beautiful prix-fixe, priced at $70pp, that’s curated by Michelin star chef Danny Lledó.
I’ve been hearing amazing things about his food! The amazing @dcfoodfreak raved that Xiquet was world class the last time we dined together, and that means a LOT coming from him so I walked in with high expectations. Suffice it to say, I’m thrilled I finally got to experience his food first hand, and I can’t wait to check out Xiquet as well.
There’s nothing better than good food and good company so I asked my brother from another mother, Sung Shin, to join me. There were 2 options per course – with the exception of course 3 – so we basically tried the whole menu.
Here’s everything we had, and excuse me for the not-so-amazing photos. They’re not up to my personal standard, but I didn’t want to take too much time shooting this time ’round – hopefully you’ll still enjoy today’s recap.
amuse bouche: gambas de palamós
amuse bouche: grilled artichoke hearts with tomacat
course 1: grilled octopus with purple potatoes and salsa veracruzana
course 1: mushroom medley with a smoked corn cream
course 2: heirloom cherry tomato and beet salad with a gazpacho dressing
palate cleanser: rosemary ginger granita and a lemon honey foam
bread & butter: rustic bread roll with house salted butter
course 3: hake with a saffron beurre blanc and glazed carrots
course 3: ovaka farms wagyu striploin with a guajillo puree, pearl onions, and a red wine reduction.
course 4: chocolate bomb with a passionfruit chocolate glaze, pearls and amarena cherries
course 4: carrot cake with chocolate chips
petit fours: dark chocolate bombon with a saffron ganache & turron de xixona
I enjoyed the food very much, and apparently Chef Lledó’s a somm as well so if you’re big into wine, you should definitely uber and indulge. They offer an extensive vino selection from Spain and France in addition to an exquisite cocktail menu.
Each dish was amazing in it’s own right, and it was a refined experience on all fronts. And for those of you with dietary restrictions, they do their best to accommodate, just make sure to give them ample notice! They also offer a vegetarian menu priced at $60 so that’s an option as well.
Alright friends, that’s a wrap for today’s photo dump! I hope you enjoyed looking through it all. I’m not sure how much longer this menu will be available, but I’m assuming it’ll change soon-ish. Head to Tock to secure your table today, and make sure to let me know how you enjoyed everything afters.
