Pumped to partner up with Hair Cuttery again on Sensible Stylista – click here, if you missed my last collab with them. It was a pretty good post (if I do say so myself) so it’s worth reading if you missed it! Anywho, today’s post is all about hair self-care. I’m sharing my secrets with you guys so you’re definitely gonna want to keep on reading.
To start, I only wash my hair once every 2-3 days. The last thing I want to do is strip my mane of its natural oils so dry shampoo is my BFF. Since I want to keep my hair hydrated, I look for shampoos that contain collagen to keep it looking shiny and beautiful. I also make sure to deep condition once every 2 weeks – or once a week if my hair feels extra dry or brittle.
I’ve been using “It’s a 10 Miracle Hair Mask,” and loving it. I apply a medium palm-sized amount all over and comb through. Then I wrap it with plastic and a damp warm towel before using a hairdryer to heat it all up. Afterwards, I rinse it out with warm water before finishing off with a cold rinse. I’m a big advocate of cold rinses, not just for hair but for skin as well.
Anywho, I know that seems like a lot of work, but it’s not too bad, and the result’s totally worth it. No pain no gain, right? Your hair will feel ridiculously soft, and it won’t cost you an arm or a leg (about $36 for a container)! FYI, you can also use this product daily – just use less (think quarter sized amount) and focus on applying it on your ends.
Now, I’m sure you guys know all about this, but brushing your hair when it’s wet is a total no-no. You’ll end up damaging your strands hardcore so please refrain from doing so. Instead, use a wide tooth comb to VERY gently untangle knots. Also, although brushing (when dry, of course), can stimulate hair growth, too much is no good. You’ll end up creating mad frizz and possibly splitting ends so primp in moderation.
above: rich products are a do || below: keeping my locks shiny – hair self-care ftw!
I almost always let my hair air dry, but I comb 1-2 drops of Cibu Argan Oil Treatment (4 oz for $29, 1.8 oz for $18) in when it’s wet to improve my hair health and help with manageability later when I do go to style it.
It helps eliminate frizz, and it’s a fabulous non-greasy, lightweight formula you can use on ALL hair types. Note: you can also use this on your skin so knock yourself out! It’s formulated with fatty acid and vitamin E rich Argan oil so it’ll nourish like a pro.
I don’t usually like using it when my hair’s dry, but that’s just me. If you prefer to use a bit post-styling, feel free to do so. Also, remember to use heat-protectant when you style your hair! I always spritz some before using my go-to curling iron or straightener.
Last but not least, eat right to maintain optimal hair health. Think lots of fruits, veggies, and lean proteins! You’ll notice a huge difference in both your skin AND hair, and you’ll feel so much more energized.
Anddd that’s a wrap for today, guys! I hope you found this hair self-care post to be informative. Do you guys have any tips or tricks? What are some of your go-to fave hair products? Make sure to let me know by commenting below and click here for more on beauty! Until next time, friends.

When I feel my head getting oily, I will sometimes just rinse it with lukewarm water when I’m showering! Let me know what you think =)
