Hey friends, it’s been a minute since I last shared a personal style post so I thought I’d publish one today. Keep in mind, I shot these pics a long while back so don’t think I’m going out and about. With everything going on in the world, I can’t even begin to stress how important it is for everyone to self quarantine. The sooner we practice good social distancing, the sooner things can return to normal.
With that said, a few months back I purchased this fabulous faux leather skirt from Zara. I fell in love with it the second I tried it on. It just felt very me in every way from cut to hue. Firstly, I adore all things high waisted so that was an instant plus, then there was the high quality fabric along with the beautiful color. It also had two feminine features that really stuck out: the ruffled trim and pleated bottom.
For today’s post, I’m going to show you how I wore this skirt two different ways. For look 1, I kept things very much neutral. I really enjoy wearing nude and earthy shades so I chose to stick with a fairly simple color scheme.
I didn’t feel like tucking a shirt in so I paired my high waisted skirt with a 3/4 sleeve crop top from Free People. I wanted to create cohesion between the top and skirt so I threw on a cozy cardigan from Gentle Fawn and carried my Zara crossbody bag to match. It was still fairly chilly out, and my legs were bare so I wore snakeskin boots from M. Gemi (similar).
Look 1 was fall-focused in nature so I wanted to do something transitional for outfit 2, which is why I went with spring-friendly colors! I swapped my olive top for a white one – it’s the same style – and then layered on one of my favorite knits from Cents of Style.
This small Utah fashion boutique is local and women run so definitely make sure to check out their online collection to support. They have really cute stuff available, and their quality’s always on point, at least from my personal experience.
To finish things off, I carried a light beige crossbody bag from Kate Spade and threw on a pair of gray heels. As I’m sure you already know, I’m a big fan of the following formula: high waisted bottoms + crop top + oversized/long outerwear. It’s flattering and comfortable for most body shapes so I highly recommend giving it a try if you haven’t yet. I do it during the warmer seasons as well with tanks or tees with lightweight button fronts or jackets.
